Anyone watching this years UK X-Factor can see its gone downhill by a mile!..
After losing 3 of its 4 panelist from last year the show hasn't been the same. The shows main man, Simon Cowell was the biggest lose with his move to X-Factor USA. His replacement Gary Barlow doesn't have the same mean funniness Cowell had and hes now expected to drop of of the show after only one series. The show also lost judge Cheryl Cole, Eng lands sweethard to be replaced by Tulisa, N-Dubz star and Danii Minogue replaced by ex-Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland.
The show was also rocked by many scandals this year with the biggest being that of Frankie Cocozza. The teen was kicked off the show after a couple of weeks for his 'rockstar' lifestyle and attitude. Boasting about his drug use backstage. There was also allegations Misha B, one of Kelly's girls was bullying other contestants.
All these problems and more have lead to the downfall of one of the UK's and Ireland's favourite shows with its rival Strictly Come Dancing now beating it in the ratings.
Can it be revived?... Only time will tell!..and if Cowells going back to Britain's Got Talent does that mean the X-Factor could be on the cards for him too?
The future of the euros looking doubtful, several member countries in economic crisis in what seems like a never ending rescission. Things, ever since all this chaos started have never seemed to look up.
Nothings changed and now with countries such as Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal and Spain have or will have to be bailed out but their fellow Eurozone members, the IMF and the ECB.
With over more than 800 million active users and its availability in more then 70 languages, Facebook is the most powerful social networking site in the world and at only 7 years old is still growing rapidly.
The site killed off all competition like MySpace and Bebo with its features like instant messaging, a quick and easy photo uploading and sharing and a simple/un-changeable profile view with a simple way of finding yours friends and 'Like' yours interests. The sites aim along with communication, is for its users to 'share'. Users sharing information such as sex, age, nationally, address, education, work and more is how the site makes its money and is how Mark Zuckerberg took this from his Harvard dorm room to the world stage with an estimated value now of about $70 billion.
But is this too much? . . .
Thats the question on many peoples lips. Facebooks Privacy Policy has always been questioned because unless you opt-out anything you share on the site can be seen be anyone who clicks on your page, friend or not. And as we all know everyone does abit of 'facebook stalking...' so if you do it to others its most likely gets done to you. Intimate details like the ones facebook asks you to share,and photos you've been tagged in, in the wrong hands can be dangerous and thats why the updated privacy settings are recommended.
Yesterday, the 'sharing' was taken a step further when the Facebook Timeline opened in New Zealand.
Now not only are you asked to share the stuff about you your since you started your facebook account, but your asked to share your entire past since teh day you were born.
This changed profile will be relased to the rest of the world in 2012, but only time will tell if the amount facebook is asking us to share is too much.
We weren't thrown in at the deep end from the beginning. The induction week was chilled, we found out the basics about PR and about all the classes we'd be taking in semester 1. We got to know the people in our class and our lectures, the people we'd hopefully be seeing for the next 4 years. Everything was a bit awkward at first but once we got talking and got to know our way round the place people livened up and came outta their shells!
Then week two came and that's when the real college life started. The place was packed and classes began, nobody could really complain about our timetable though, only 17 hours a week and only one full day. So us PR1's had it handy compared to some.
So over the weeks classes got a bit harder, tests and assignments started coming and work actually had to be done but it was nothing undo able.
Overall though I would say college is just okay, DkIT's a great place but I still cant say I love it. At the moment I just cant wait for a break, so Christmas cant come soon enough :D But at the same time I'm looking forward to the changes 2012 will bring. Not the exams of course but the new classes and new challenges...and the craic at rag week :P
From the beginning of the elections I was supporting David Norris. He was the only candidate I actually heard of before who was a politician. I liked him because he seemed funny, was a good speaker and seemed like someone who could be the face of our country. As well as that, I thought Ireland, being the first country with a gay president would be a great step up and just show how much progress society has made here. Unfortunately scandal rocked Norris's campaign and caused him to drop of of the presidential race.
'It emerged Mr Norris wrote to an Israeli court pleading for clemency for his former partner Ezra Yizhak. Yizhak had been accused of the statutory rape of a 15-year-old Palestinian boy in 1992. He admitted the charge, pleading guilty and was convicted in 1997. Mr Norris said he had written the letter "out of love and concern'. BBC News Northern Ireland.
Thought soon after this Norris decided to re-enter for candidacy, a brave decision after the story that had come out. His attempts were unsuccessful thought as his ratings in the poles had gone from front runner by a mile in the first attempt to dropping to fifth place in the overall count, with only 6.2% of the countries vote.
Personally, I think David Norris would have been a great president and the fact he would have been the worlds first gay president would of put Ireland on the world stage for something more positive than our money problems. But his story just shows that even though one day your in winning position and everything seems like it can't go wrong that it can and in his case did.
